REAL CATWALK UK
This movement, founded by New York based supermodel, Khrystana is dominating the world with our message of body acceptance and representation and is returning to the UK after a two year hiatus due to COVID-19.
It is a celebration of different types of beauty, hoping to eradicate the label and stigma of non-archetypical models within the fashion industry.
After photographing the event in 2019, Jayne Jackson became an "official Photographer' for the 2021 event, which took place in Trafalgar Square, London on the 25th of September, Around 80 models of all genders, abilities, sizes, ethnicities and more, situated outside the National Portrait Gallery.
The media and press buzz from our event has been immense! With our movement being featured in numerous magazines, news articles and more. We would love for this success to be echoed with media attention as due to COVID, there has been increased interest around celebrating marginalised people. The rise in people needing representation and confidence has been felt throughout the UK, with many experiencing depression or low mood as a subsequent symptom due to the virus and it’s impact on things like socialisation, body image, race relations and more.
The Real Catwalk is a 501-(c)(3) non-profit organisation based in New York City.
Originating as a show of individuality and a celebration of the beauty of all shapes, forms, colours, abilities, genders, and other intersections. The Real Catwalk aims to provide empowerment through groundbreaking runway shows, inclusivity campaigns, and workshops across the globe.
