Jayne Jackson| Photographer & Activist
I am dedicated to empowering others through the arts, whether through my commercial specialism in performance arts photography or my personal work and activism related to social justice.
As a patron of National Boys Dance Day (23d October), I collaborate to increase positive representation of male dancers. I am deeply committed to arts education and actively advocate for greater inclusion, opportunity, and support for the creative sector. My PhD research focuses on amplifying historical female narratives and representation, using participatory empowerment and visual impact.
Most of the activist work I do, tackles violence against women and girls (VAWG). My multi-award-winning series “Asking For It” continues to used educationally and exhibit interactively, stimulating social change in areas such as victim-blaming, sexual harassment, bystander intervention and consent.
Alongside the amazing Lorna Rees, I co-created Foxstrut UK, an urban fox-themed celebratory empowerment ‘strut’, which reclaims nighttime spaces inclusively, through colourful craftivism, and joyful protest.

I believe in the power of the image as a catalyst for change. A photograph, like a performance, a painting, or a melody, is an artwork—not a noun, but a verb. It is something that, once created, becomes the creator. It can move, disrupt, and rebuild. It is an active force that shapes how we see, feel, and behave.
Images hold memory, evoke empathy, communicate, and connect. They challenge, inspire, shift perspectives, and transform. Art rescues what might otherwise be lost, enriches what is already there, and breathes meaning into the ordinary. The work I support and create therefore has power to transform, create change, spark connection, and show the world not just as it is, but as it can be.
My mission, in its simplest form, is to positively represent, empower others and inspire change.
